Explore San Pedro de Atacama, one of the world’s most unique desert destinations, with tours designed for every travel style: shared, semi-private and private experiences.

San Pedro de Atacama is the gateway to some of the most extraordinary landscapes on Earth, including salt flats, volcanoes, geysers, high-altitude lagoons and some of the clearest night skies in the world. Located in northern Chile, this destination combines geology, culture and extreme environments in a compact and accessible area. At Molantur, we offer three types of tour experiences adapted to different travel styles: Shared tours: ideal for travelers looking for a complete experience at an accessible price, with groups of up to 15 passengers and fixed schedules. Semi-private tours: small groups of up to 8 people, designed to provide a more comfortable, flexible and personalized experience while maintaining a balanced cost. Private tours: exclusive service in a private vehicle with a dedicated guide, allowing flexible schedules, custom stops and a fully tailored experience. Due to the high altitude of many destinations (over 4,000 meters), we recommend proper acclimatization and hydration. Each tour includes transportation and a professional guide, while entrance fees to parks are usually paid on site. San Pedro is not only a destination, but a base to explore the Atacama Desert through different levels of comfort, adventure and connection with nature.

Frequently asked questions

How many days are recommended to visit San Pedro de Atacama?

We recommend at least 3 to 4 days to acclimatize to the altitude and see the highlights: Valle de la Luna, the El Tatio geysers, the altiplanic lagoons and Laguna Cejar.

Do I need to acclimatize to the altitude in San Pedro de Atacama?

Yes. San Pedro sits at 2,400 m and several tours go above 4,000 m (Tatio, altiplanic lagoons). We suggest resting on your first day, staying hydrated, and saving the highest-altitude tours for last.

Are park entrance fees included in the tours?

Park entrance fees are managed and charged by Molantur and shown separately in each quote for full transparency, added to the final program price.

When is the best time to visit San Pedro de Atacama?

It can be visited year-round. The clear skies of the Atacama Desert allow stargazing almost any time, and each season offers different landscapes across lagoons, salt flats and volcanoes.

What is the difference between shared, semi-private and private tours?

Shared is the most affordable group option; semi-private means small groups (max 8) with great value; private is an exclusive vehicle with a dedicated guide and flexible schedule (max 4 passengers).
